Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center Becomes the First Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Ventura County
Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center is proud to announce that it has been awarded the Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification from DNV GL-Healthcare. Los Robles Hospital becomes the first hospital in Ventura County to achieve this accreditation, and only one of fourteen hospitals in California to be named a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The accreditation reflects the highest level of competence for the treatment of acute stroke events.
Comprehensive stroke centers are the most clinically advanced and best-equipped hospitals in a given geographical area that can treat any kind of stroke or stroke complication. In many states, stroke center certification determines to which facility a patient should be taken for the most appropriate care.
“Being a comprehensive stroke center means that stroke victims will receive the highest level of care possible by a multidisciplinary team of physicians,” said Dr. M. Asif Taqi, Medical Director of Stroke and Neuroendovascular Services at Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center. “Becoming the first hospital in Ventura County to receive this accreditation, and the 14th in California, is a testament to our team’s abilities to treat complex strokes and represents the most advanced stroke treatment in the region.”
By meeting the rigorous requirements of the certification process, Los Robles Hospital has demonstrated that it exceeds patient safety standards set forth by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Brain Attack Coalition and the American Stroke Association. The emphasis these programs place on deploying a disciplined management system, combined with the relevant clinical best practices, sets DNV GL stroke certifications apart from other programs.
This distinction comes just a month after Los Robles Hospital announced that they were one of 844 hospitals to receive an “A” grade for patient safety in its fall 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Safety survey, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States.
