Recognition
The Los Angeles County Emergency Department recognizes hospitals that equip their ERs with child-sized equipment and specially trained doctors and nurses who understand how a child's needs differ from adults.
Pediatric emergency room
Our emergency room has a dedicated pediatric unit staffed by a range of pediatric specialists. All of our board-certified pediatric doctors are trained to provide the sensitive bedside manner children need during an emergency.
After our doctors treat your child, they will provide the instructions and reading materials you need to care for your child at home. They instruct you on topics such as wound care, medication dosage and more. They also work with your child's normal pediatrician to ensure a quality continuum of care.
Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU)
Our Level III NICU uses state-of-the-art medical technology to care for premature and critically ill newborns. Staffed with neonatologists, neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, among others, our unit is equipped to treat developing lungs and perform minor surgical procedures.
Pediatric intermediate care
Our pediatric unit offers care for a wide variety of life-threatening issues, including severe infections, respiratory diseases, trauma and complex post-operative care. Pediatric intermediate care provides central monitoring for patients who require a higher level of care than a traditional pediatric unit offers.
