Outpatient diagnostic imaging services

Our imaging services team is pleased to provide you with the following imaging services:

• X-ray, or radiograph, is utilized to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. X-rays expose parts of the body to small doses of ionizing radiation in order to produce images of the inside of the body.
• Computed tomography, which is also referred to as a CT scan or CAT scan, is a noninvasive medical test that is utilized to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. CT imaging produces multiple images inside of the body. These images of the area being studied are known as cross-sectional images and can be examined on a computer monitor or printed. Radiologists have the ability to diagnose problems such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.
• Ultrasound imaging, or sonography, utilizes high-frequency sound waves to produce images inside of the body. The images are captured in real-time and are able to show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs and blood flowing through blood vessels. The most common ultrasound exams we offer are:
  • OB ultrasounds provide pictures of an embryo or fetus within a woman’s uterus. The ultrasound gives the technician the ability to take measurements and monitor the fetus.
  • Breast ultrasounds produce images of the internal structure of the breast that are used to identify abnormalities.
  • Abdominal ultrasounds provide pictures of the organs and the upper abdomen.
  • Renal or kidney ultrasounds produce images of the kidneys, ureters and bladder.
  • Carotid ultrasounds provide images of the body’s two carotid arteries that are located on each side of the neck and carry blood from the heart to the brain.
  • Doppler ultrasound is a technique that is used to evaluate blood pace as it flows through a blood vessel, including the body’s major arteries and veins that are found in the abdomen, arms, legs and neck.
• Digital mammography utilizes X-rays to collect and convert them into electronic signals as they pass through the breast. These signals are used to create a digital image on a computer. Digital mammography provides the highest quality breast images to assist clinicians in detecting breast cancer at the earliest stage possible. Adding MammoPad® breast cushions to every patient exam creates a warm, soft and comfortable mammogram experience.
• 3D mammography/tomosynthesis, or the breast tomosynthesis system, is a remarkable breakthrough in cancer screening and detection. Tomosynthesis has the ability to find 40 percent more invasive cancers than 2D mammography. Doctors are able to see breast tissue detail, which allows for there to be an increase in cancer detection and a reduction in false positives. 3D mammogram has been proven to also reduce the need for follow up breast exams by 20 to 40.
• DEXA bone densitometry scan, or DEXA scan, is a scan that is utilized to measure bone density. DEXA bone scan is a simple and noninvasive procedure that measures bone mass and assists in the diagnosis of osteoporosis. The bone density scan requires you to lay flat on a table while the scanner moves over the top of your body.
